Taylor reagent R0013-A is a 0.75-ounce bottle of cyanuric acid reagent, also known as conditioner or stabilizer, used to measure cyanuric acid levels in pool and spa water to ensure effective chlorine sanitization. This reagent reacts with water containing cyanuric acid to create a cloudy (turbid) solution, allowing for accurate measurement of stabilizer levels with a corresponding view tube and instruction card. For best results, store R0013-A in a cool, dark place and replace it annually, as recommended by Taylor Technologies.

Purpose and Function

Measures Cyanuric Acid:

R0013-A is the reagent used to determine the amount of cyanuric acid (stabilizer) present in pool and spa water.

Maintains Water Chemistry:

By accurately measuring cyanuric acid levels, users can maintain proper water balance and ensure chlorine is protected from UV degradation.

Turbidity Reaction:

The reagent, when added to a water sample containing cyanuric acid, causes the water to become cloudy, a visual indicator of the stabilizer's presence

Usage:

  1. Fill a test sample bottle to the specified mark with the water you want to test.

  2. Add a few drops of R-0013-A reagent to the water sample.

  3. Twist the cap on and mix for about 30 seconds to allow the turbidity to develop.

  4. Transfer the cloudy mixture to a cyanuric acid view tube.  Compare the turbidity level in the view tube to the printed standards on the instruction card to get your reading.

Storage and Shelf Life:

Size: R0013-A is typically sold in a 0.75 ounce bottle.

Shelf Life: Reagents have a shelf life, and it is recommended to replace them annually for the most accurate results.

Storage Conditions: Store the reagent in a cool, consistent temperature (around 36°–85°F or 2°–29°C) away from direct sunlight and humidity to prevent deterioratione.
