The Taylor 9056 is not a complete test kit, but a high-range comparator block used to determine levels of chlorine and bromine, as well as pH, in pools and spas. It is designed for use with Taylor's 2000 Series liquid test kits, such as the K-2005 and K-2006.

Key features:

  • High-range testing: The 9056 is specifically for high-range readings, measuring chlorine from 1 to 10 ppm and bromine from 2 to 20 ppm. For lower ranges, the 9057 comparator is used.
  • DPD and pH testing: The block is used for color-matching DPD tests, which measure both free and total chlorine/bromine. It is also used to determine the pH level (7.0 to 8.0).
  • Dual sample chambers: The block features two test cells, allowing for a side-by-side comparison of the treated water sample against the fixed color standards printed on the block.
  • Durable construction: Made from clear, durable acrylic, the comparator is chemically resistant and built to maintain optical clarity for consistent visual readings.
  • Frosted backing: A frosted backing ensures uniform color perception, making it easier to accurately match colors.
  • Replacement part: It is available as a standalone replacement part, so if your original comparator becomes scratched or worn, you don't need to replace the entire test kit.

How it works:

To use the 9056 comparator for chlorine testing, you add reagents R-0001 (DPD) and R-0002 (DPD) to a water sample in one of the test cells. The sample will turn a shade of pink. You then hold the comparator block up to a light source and compare the color of your sample against the color standards on the block to determine the chlorine or bromine level.
